SHAPING OUR FUTURE TOGETHER

Cal State LA Strategic Vision

Cal State LA is developing an ambitious new strategic plan designed to define the university's highest priorities and chart a bold course for the next five years. The plan will establish institutional priorities, embed strategy across all initiatives, align resources with goals, and inspire pride and ownership throughout the campus community.

The University Strategic Plan is being developed in tandem with three complementary planning efforts: an Academic Plan, a Strategic Enrollment Management Plan, and a Facilities Master Plan. Together, these plans will position Cal State LA to thrive in a rapidly changing educational landscape, grounded in our legacy, driven by our mission, and reflective of our deep commitment to community impact across the region and beyond.

VISION

What is a Facilities Master Plan?

Cal State LA's Facilities Master Plan (FMP) is an exciting opportunity to shape the future of the campus. At its heart, the plan provides a framework for thoughtful, sustainable growth, one that responds to the needs of the community today while staying flexible enough to grow and change with it. The goal is simple: to support a thriving future for Cal State LA.

An interdisciplinary team of planners and designers from Sasaki is partnering with the Cal State LA community to lead this visioning process. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other key stakeholders will play an essential role in shaping the future of the campus. Sasaki is further supported by a broader consultant team that includes:

JLL

JLL

financial strategy and cost estimation

ARUP

ARUP

MEP engineering and infrastructure

Fehr & Peers

Fehr & Peers

transportation and mobility

Ummo

The plan will consider both the near term, what the campus needs over the next 10 years, and a longer-term 20-year vision for transformation. This means thinking carefully about day-to-day operations as well as the bigger investments that will define Cal State LA for generations to come. Priorities center on supporting students in every aspect of their experience, enhancing shared spaces, making smart capital investments, and staying closely aligned with the university's academic and enrollment goals.

Most importantly, this plan belongs to the campus community. The voices of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and everyone who calls Cal State LA home matter deeply. Experiences, ideas, and hopes for the future are what will make this plan truly meaningful, and there is no better time to get involved.
